I am a green maid (or attempting to be).

My bridesmaid dress for Karen’s wedding arrived on Wednesday, fits wonderfully except for in my non-existent chest (nothing a good bra will not fix). Here is a picture for all you inquisitive people:

(Note: I did not go blonde)

The gold looks great with my hair and my glasses. Speaking of hair, yesterday I got the back of my head buzzed, so it ¾ of an inch long. Do not fret; it is still long in front, just short in the back. Yesterday was beautiful, 56 degrees.

However, I am not writing to tell you that. This is a service announcement. With the state of our economy and environment, I am writing to encourage people to go green (or as green as possible with a limited income). This is especially to everyone who still uses Nalgene (or any plastic bottle at that). Leeching is scary. So back away from the plastic. Especially my sister and brother-in-law. Stop! Nothing is safe these days, but I am loving my Sigg bottle. Aluminum with an epoxy coating. Cute. I want the brown with butterflies, but that will happen another day.

Here she models with my Cupcake Lunchbag (a great conversation starter) in the background and on top of my reading.

Another thing I really encourage is the use of canvas bags for groceries and purchases (or no bags if you can throw it in your purse or carry it out). Plastic bags = bad. I keep my Trader Joe’s bag and some other canvas bags by the door and grab them when I go to run errands. It makes me happy.

Anyway, Leaper (my best friend) and her little baby, Maliah, are returning to Italy on Friday. Makes me sad. I currently live over a thousand miles away from them but they are still on the same continent. But Jaime will return from Afghanistan in September so I am happy. Then from there, one more year in Italy. Then back to America! Maliah will be big by the time I see her again. I am cross-stitching a little sign with her name on it, so she will have that forever.

Wow, I feel like a nerd with this little service announcement. Plus, check out the new Death Cab for Cutie single.
